blue chart St. joe bay?

Post by Barhopr »

Just got my card in the machine and I can't get any detailed info for SJB. When I zoom in or out I can see the detail for about a half a second but then goes to no detail. It appears that a larger map is overlayed and is over rideing. Anybody got answers for a newbie?

I looked at St Joe Bay on mine.. At one and a half mile scale it showed nothing..water outside the bay showed some detail and depth.

When I dropped scale to 1 mile it showed good detail of the bay.I have no idea why yours is doing like it is.. may try different scales.

I know other blue chart users on here can probably be of more help..

I've got a Bluechart on a Garmin 172C and mine seems to work okay. Kick it a couple of times.

On the PC or GPS???????

You have to select a map or maps of a certain area to get all the detail....Like when you and me fished CIS....I had St. George loaded....it covered 100 yards past the ramp at CIS, anything north of that was detail less....On mapsource you use the map tool and select the region you will fish..then load it to the GPS...then check it....sometimes it won't take, so I check it to make sure

Those tan lines are the areas I have to select with the map tool prior to loading to my GPS or they will show up like you have....But your dealing with a card....all my stuff is software, no card....I would look for the upgrade and GIT-R-WET mentioned and try that....If that didn't do it, call Garmin customer support

Let us know, whatcha find out...

I'm contacting Garmin today, the card has a date of July '06 on it so I assume it's up to date. Thanks for the effort
And yes that is marking my secret grouper hole in the Bay. I make all of my reefs were the maps come together on charts to make them easyier to find while I'm out there. Those map edges show up real well on the bottom!
