Lanark 10/13/06 Reds, Reds, Reds

Post by DuctTapeKing »

A few of my Buddies came down and we all stayed at rgharris's house at mashy sands. We got in Thursday night and drank a few beers. I told them the way I figured it, Friday would probably be the best fishing day since there was a front moving in all day friday and friday night. They wanted to fish some new waters so off the lanark we went. It was hard getting up and moving since we only we to bed a few hours before. We got to lanark at first light, just after high tide. We went down to the east end of lanark reef and proceded to put on a red fish clinic. We boated 34 slot sized red fish. Most were 22" + and fat. We keep four between 23 and 26, we did have four of us fishing. We also caught 1 18" trout, 1 14" trout and a bunch of 8"-10". We ended our day at abour 1:00pm. It was a great day of fishing. We used Gulp shrimp, and chunk mullet all day. The mullet caught the bigger fish.

Yep the Chunk Mullet was on bottom with a 1/4oz weight. I usually don't fish that way, but my Buddie who fishes Mosquito Lagoon say's "Why re-invent the wheel?. Them reds seemed to find that oily mullet and jump on it!!!" He was right. But the other tackle fished also produced so it may have been a case of the right place, the right time, the right conditions, etc. Or maybe it was the Duck Tape???
