Paralell Wiring...

Post by rocket »

What would be the correct way to parallel wire a 12V trolling system? Would you just install a jumper from + to +, and - to -?
My 12V isn't cutting it, and am going to try to parallel it before buying a 24V system (unless the right 24V motor comes along  ).
I've got a feeling I'm not going to be happy until I replace what I've got, but I've got nothing to loose trying the parallel first.

Run of the ,mill deep cycle marine. Battery Source (reconditioned) I believe.
I checked around on Optimas, but couldn't get enough positive responses to warrant the $.
I've also got to run my troller on 3, 4, or 5 power (mostly 4&5) for any effectivness. Running it at it's highest settings is draining the battery fast.
I'm wanting to make the 55lb Riptide work since it's relatively new, but have my doubts.

If your using it against the wind and current, it ain't gonna last....You need to get the 24 V....I use the wind and current to my advantage...I'm pleased with my Optima...Your talking about the jon boat right, not the PF?

9 times out of 10 I've got the elements in my favor. Just not worth fighting against them.
Not for use on the PF.

Well, I see 2 problems....

1: Battery Source Battery...Known not to be the top of the line.

2: Reconditioned?.....You should know better...

Get a GOOD battery like an Optima, and you might be surprised how far you can go. Be sure to get the Deep cycle only model.....it will last the longest.

I have a RT 12V 55 lbs thrust on my 15 foot fiberglass skiff and it works well. I to looked at the optima Battery but went with the Interstate deep cycle. I can run all day and still have charge left but I still wish that I would have gotten the Optima. interstate is a great battery but i don't think that it would last as long as Optima.

Walmart has Everstart Maxx Deep Cycle batteries in a size 29 for $64.95 that should solve your problem. They also have a 3 year full replacement warranty and are prorated for up to 9 years. I've not seen a better warranty on any battery anywhere and I believe you'll be hard pressed to beat the price for a comprable battery.

Good luck!
