After the field trip was over, Camryn and I launched at the fort and we headed to the west flats. We fished between 3' and 4', where she caught 3 trout (1 keeper) and a nice spanish. After about an hour, we moved to the east flats and fished between 4' and 6'. She didn't find any trout, but she caught another spanish, which gave her quite a fight; a sailcat, which she didn't think she was going to get--and she thought about giving up; a ladyfish which kept her laughing as it was jumping behind the boat; a small pinfish, which she kept on the hook and earned us a shark that measured over 3'.
This was in addition to the dolphins swimming by and jumping, and the manatee we saw on our way back up the river.
What a way to spend a Wednesday afternoon. And we made it back to the ramp in time to grab dinner at the Riverside cafe.
