I had a 24 volt 74lb. replaced it with a 24 volt 80 lb.

Trolling motors are not designed to be used as power poles. Your old one had no paint left on it.
Go figure.

I did consider it my aquatic 4 wheel drive. Oyster bars ,rock bottom and trolling motors don't mix.
