Grouper Trolling and lure types....

Post by Aquaman »

Greetings fellow grouper experts :smt006
Any suggestion on what type of lure (color and all) you would suggest for trolling for groupers would be appreciated.
I hear the "strech 30+" works good ! any specific colors ?
Thanks for the help

Depends on depth. Stretch lures from the 8+ to the 40+ all work. Colors, everyone has their favorite. If I could have one it would be the chart/orange one...

If I could have 2 the other would be green fire tiger.
I am also fond of Rapala CD-18's in the same color.

I agree with Tom on the orange/yellow however this year Ive used a rainbow colored 25 as much as anything.. This has been a bad year for me though. Haven't caught anything like what I did last year.

Couple of weeks back we trolled with a firetiger and a blue/silver stretch 30. They hit the Blue/silver (usually good for kings) and never touched the firetiger. Last year, it was the opposite.... Go figure...Dang finnicky fishies :smt009
