If Santa is really going to be good to you, Van Staal titaniums are the best out there, but they'll run about $280 with leather case and lanyard at basspro, etc. The VS stainless steels are around $160 and come with the case and lanyard also. Rubber-coated handles and same cutters as the titanium.

I also used a pair of Donnmar SS pliers for years. They hold up very well and cut braid easily. The CP850 run about $100.

I have these Gerbers. Pretty good.

You can always go with the $40 Brownings from BPS or Cabelas and just use school safety scissors to cut your braid. Those POS scissors from 2nd grade work very well on braided line and run about a buck for a 4-pack.

Been using a pair of Letherman pliers for 9 years now. Cut everything and no rust after 9 years.

I say get the cheap ones. Buy like 5 pair at a time. While you're at the bargain bin just hold them up to the light to check that the cutting edges approximate so that they will cut line, wire, whatever. Just add WD-40 and you will lose them before they go bad.
