Pole Suggestions

For Xmas, Santa brought our boat a poling platform. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions as to what kind and what length pole I should get for a 17 ft. aluminum, v-hull, flats boat? Assume that there is a $500 budget.

I would get a 20' Stiffy Hybrid...You can buy one from Beavertail Skiffs for around you price
