Saturday 1/6 St. Marks

Slipped out from the light house about 11:30. Bright and sunny and almost no wind. About 74 degrees. A little over 3 feet to come in. This sounds good :D

Thinking I would try to find some trout today, but as I was on the flats saw a bull red no less than 38" as I rode in...Oh well. Did pick up one trout in shallows on a floater suspender Mirrolure.

BD calls about 1:30 and nary a red, but some good luck followed literally the second I hung up. Landed 2 slot reds, then saw a monster blowup and moved on over to find a big school pounding some bait. First cast in landed a 28" red , then another 10 followed from this school between 22 and 26". Best part was, these fish were in clear sunny shallows, pushing wakes to take my spoon. Very sweet!

Left these biting to find some more. 45 minutes later nary a bite, I was doubting my leaving the first area. But, managed to find more just about the time the dense fog rolled in off the ocean. Saw some fish moving and landed a 29" as well as some others hanging in some grass.

Ended up the day boating 19 reds and 1 trout. Didn't bump any trout on the flats as I found before Xmas. Did see big mullet, and lots of bait. The ride in was in thick dang fog, back on the trailer at 6:00.

Here is a lousy pict of the 28" red....Sorry Cell phone camera...
