Trolling motor repair

Does anyone service / repair riptides in the area?

Mine has had a distinct chatter to it since I bought the boat last spring when run on the highest setting.

I pulled it apart the other day and discovered what the problem is, but I am unsure it can be fixed. The problem is this - the drive shaft has the motor attached to it in the middle, with the prop at one end. At the far end of the shaft is a wheel with a bearing that seats into a hole in a plastic piece that also is used for wire management. This plastic piece keeps the shaft strait and prevents the motor from torquing. The plastic piece is broken along the edge of one side of the hole and when under full power it is most likely wobbling, which creates the chatter.

I cannot find any parts online that would address this problem, and it looks as if I might have to completely disassemble the motor to even get to them.

So - does anyone know of a local/semi local guy that can work on this?

The only other 1 I know about is in Panama City. Chalk could help you with that 1.

I talked to Rick at R&R and he seems to think they can fix it. Depending on the exact model/yr it may be an easy fix.

Let me know how it works out for you. I've never used them for TM repair but have been in there shop several times to BS
