CATCHIN ST. MARKS WITH SIR REEL

Post by FUTCHCAIRO »

SIR REEL MET WITH ME AT JERRYS ABOUT 730 YESTERDAY MORNIN. WE WENT TO LIGHTHOUSE POOL TO LAUNCH THE BOAT, WHEN WE GOT THERE IT WAS SKINNY WATER IN THE CANAL. AFTER A WAIT AND GETTIN STUFF HITCHED UP IN THE BOAT WE LAUNCHED THE BOAT. SIR REEL WAS GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO SUPPLY THE BOAT AND PLACES TO FISH. WE STARTED OUT IN FRONT OF THE LIGHTHOUSE AND DID NOT CATCH A THING. WE THEN WENT TO THE WEST FLATS AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES SIR REEL PULLED IN A KEEPER TROUT. ABOUT THE SAME TIME I HOOKED UP WITH A SMALL BLUE, I FORGOT TO CHECK MY LINE FOR DAMAGE AND THE VERY NEST CAST I HOOKED A NICE TROUT, GOT HIM TO THE BOAT AND THE LINE BROKE, 1 LOST TROUT, 1 LOST LONG (A) LURE. WE FISHED SEVERAL OTHER PLACES OVER AROUND PADDYS ISLAND AND HAD NO LUCK. WE DID PUT ONE SPANISH IN THE BOX.
WE WENT BACK OVER TO THE EAST FLATS AND SIR REEL PUT US ON THE TROUT. FINALLY AROUT 4 P.M. WE STARTED CATCHIN TROUT. I NOTICED WHEN THE MOON CAME UP OVER THE TREES THE TROUT STARTED TO STRIKE. WE CONTINUED TO FISH THIS AREA UNTILL ABOUT 6:30 -7 P.M. THEN WE HEADED IN.
TOTAL CATCH
32 TROUT
10 KEEPERS ONE 21"
1 SPANISH
SIR REEL HAD TO PERFORM SURGERY AND REMOVE HOOK FROM MY LEFT MIDDLE FINGER WHILE TROUT STILL ATTACHED ON THE SAME PLUG. HE DID A GREAT JOB, FINGER HASN'T HURT AT ALL.
WE FINALLY MADE IT BACK TO JERRY'S ABOUT 8:30 WHERE WE WENT OUR SEPARTE WAYS.
WENT TO BED ABOUT 9:30 AND SLEPT TILL 11 A. M ALL IN ALL WE HAD A GREAT TIME CATCHING FISH AND GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER BETTER. I EVEN GOT SIR REEL TO START TAKING TO THE TROUT.
PA THE OLD MAN OF THE SEA.
P.S. SIR REEL MIGHT POST A PICTURE AFTER HE RECOUPS.

Talk about being gracious.... ... PA left out the part about how he "spanked" me but good with that mirror lure! PA, I sure enjoyed having the opportunity to fish with you. I'll try to put you on the fish a bit quicker next time. I've got a couple of pictures but they're not digital. Might be tomorrow before I can get them on the post. Thanks again PA, your a real gentleman in my book.

One side note, we ran across a bunch of dead belly up mullet along the banks in Big Pass. We counted between 45-50 all about 14 inches. Don't have any explanation for it...didn't see any dead fish except for that location. They were swollen but not decomposed maybe dead a day or so.
