St Marks 3/7/07 *Poped my Topwater Cherry*

Post by mojokoko »

Ok well we didn't catch a lot of fish but it's good being out on the water!
OK it's time to get to business. I decided while were chillin on the oyster bars to pitch the Zara Spook untill I finally catch something with it. Well I keep doing the Walk the Dog motion and nothing was going on. So I walk a little ways down the bar and start seeing fish hitting the top water. So I make a
long cast and start working it back using the Walk the Dog motion. Well all of a sudden a freaking trout jumps out of the water and freakin nails my Zara Spook. I look at my line and notice it is very tight and decide to reel that badboy in. What do I know but I just caught my first fish using the Walk the Dog method. I'm going to remember this for a lifetime. THat was freaking awsome. You have no idea how cool that was to see some monster just come from the water and just attack your Zara Spook. Once you go top water you never go back. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

  There's nuth'in like topwater. My wife got a big trout off some rocks on a top dog 2 weeks ago, and we are still talking about that fish. We both saw him chase the lure and hit it, and both our jaws dropped to the deck. Congrats on a fine fish! :-D

A lot of the big trout I have caught were with top water plugs. I have caught them all times of the day and in many different conditions but the most exciting has got to be at night. There is nothing like hearing the hit and seeing the splash in the moonlight, talk about getting excited. The hardest part is leaving it there if they miss it the first time.

I can imagine it. I imagine it all the time. They say that man thinks about sex every 6 seconds. The other 5 seconds he's thinking about topwater action.

I love those Zara Spooks. Glad you got one.

My favorites are the Spook and Chug Bug. Had some pretty good luck luck last week with a white Spook w/red head and a king-size silver and blue Chug Bug.

Fishing wise....there is nothing like getting exploded on top water.....nothing.

Them chugbugs work really well for amberjacks when really ripped across the top. One of my great secrets, you will get a strike, guaranteed
