Cinco de Mayo on da bayou - Shell Point

Post by Good Times »

I have been a BBFNet watcher for a couple of years now. What I great site. Thanks guys for keeping it up and going! Everything you need in one site.

I love fishing with my Dad. We put in this morning at Panacea (7:15) and ran out to the tripod. Set up that drift and started throwing the new penny gulps. Immediately I was three short trout deep and my Dad hadn't gotten a bite. Don't feel sorry for him though. No sooner had I put the third trout back and he started catching trout. I was locked down the rest of the day. All I brought in was one 17" trout. The rest were shorts and one foul hooked pin fish. That's all there is to my story.

Now Dad on the other hand...... along about 9:00 Dad's drag goes off like a bank alarm. Thought we had a shark at first. Couldn't see anything yet. We got it closer to the boat and we looked to see the gulp shrimp come up, then about an 8 inch trout on the line. I thought, that thing is on steroids! Then up from the bottom, 42 inches of cobia. 30 minutes later we had one tiredd fish and Dad's arm was getting burned out. We were trout fishing so there was no gaff on board, so I netted him and put him in the boat. After a few high fives we got back to fishing and Dad continued to humiliate me the rest of the day. I loved it.

By 12:00 noon:

4 good trout
1 cobia

great day

If someone tells me ho wto post pics on here I'll put some on.[/img]

:smt006 Just keep fishing with good ole dad...both of you will never regret that association. My sons & I sometimes don't always agree on things, but we always have a great time fishing together. Fishing & hunting have been the glue that have bonded us over more than 30 years and now the grandkids are involved! Not a bad deal. :smt007 Good report.

Great time for sure. Easiest way to post pics is join somewhere like photobucket, upload your photos there, then post them here using the img code they give you. Sounds complicated; but, pretty easy once you do it.
