St Marks LH - Cinco de Mayo!

Post by BigLizard »

First time post, so here goes!

Wife and I put in at the lighthouse about 7 am Saturday. Drifted just out in front and a little east when we started getting bites. Wife lands the first keeper trout on live shrimp under Cajun Thunder. I started throwing a topwater Skitterwalk...Something crashed the surface near it, but missed, so i tried again...long cast and this time he nailed it - 16 in trout. These fish were aggressive with the topwater action until late in the morning, around 10:30. We used Skitterwalk and Chug Bug lures and both were working great. Lost one 18 in trout when it slipped from my hand and over the side of the boat :smt011 Those guys can be slippery!

All in all it was a great day. Took home 4 keeper trout, all around 16 in.
Trout nuggets for dinner! :lick:

Others we caught:

about 10 short trout
2 spanish mackerel
1 bonnet head shark

 That ain't a bad day.

Ya got to get a Boga or EconoLipper (a lot cheaper to replace when it goes for a swim)

Tie a small bouy to that thing and you can find it when you drop it :P
You gonna talk, or you gonna fish?
