St. Teresa 5-21-07

Post by dolphinatic »

Work called me back to Alligator Point again this morning, so I loaded up some fishing gear along with the work gear and headed down to St. Teresa before a long day of work. Got to the water around 9:00am and waded out about 100 yds or so to the spot I fished last week. The bite started a little slow, but gradually picked up within 30 minutes or so. Started catching under-slot reds with live shrimp and missed a few nice bites with one break off. I think it was a nice red judging by the hit-and-run bite. Could only manage short reds with the shrimp, so I switched up to a new penny gulp fished on the bottom. That would end up being the trick  Caught keeper reds one after another and went through gulps one after another too. When the gulps were shredded beyond use, I decided to call it a day. Out of the water at 12:30pm on low tide.

All fish caught today were reds.....no trout. Last week it was all trout, no reds....go figure. Reds ranged from 14"-25" with the bigger fish being caught on the gulp. ALL fish released to fight again another day. Just enjoyed being on the water this morning

It's a shame all you caught were those pesky reds.

I'm going back Thursday morning  I have done much better there lately not taking the boat....wading seems to be the trick right now. There were 3 boats down there yesterday and I didn't see the first fish caught on any of them  I'm ready when you are though :D
