What line weight (test) for deep water reels ?

I want to venture out of shallow waters and try some bottom fishing on wrecks and structure in 60+ feet of water. I've been a spinning reel fisher so far, but recently acquired a Penn Jigmaster 500, a 4/0 and a 6/0 reel for bottom work.

In looking around for recommendations on what test line to load on these, the fellow at the rod repair shop said don't go above 60# on the 6/0, or I will wear it out too quick (rather break the line rather than the reel, he said), and then I see stuff on the internet where folks routinely have 100# and plus on a 6/0.

Maybe one of you have come across a guide or can offer some guidance for me?

We usually spool up our 4/0 and 6/0 with 40 or 50# Ande clear.

Its good stuff and the price is not bad either.

Honestly I would leave the 6/0 at home or sell it on ebay and get another 4/0. It is just too big of a reel and too heavy. For the 4/0 I would go 50# ande clear. For the jig master I would go 30# ande clear.
