T.S. Barry saved Reel slow and me from a buttwhuppin'. We launched around 7:30 a.m. and headed down past Rock Island. Fished from there to 1/2 mile east of Grey Mare. GPS track showed 55 miles when we got home. We may have had 5 trout, with 18" being the largest, to show for our efforts. We fished from 1/2' to 12' of water. We did not catch any trout in shallow, what little we caught were out deep.
The only saving grace for the day was the redfish. Econfina is lousy with them. We could have had a 50 redfish day easily. On hindsight I wish now we would've stuck with the reds.
RS wouldn't hold still long enough for a photo so the only photo we took was of me and a red.
Don't you love the color of those tannic water reds.
Thanks for coming along Reel slow. Can't wait til next time.

Good jobs guys, I caught a lot of rat reds out there myself. Lot of fun, but would have been sweeter with some Trout. I drifted over my line while talking on the radio, and reeled in a jerkbait that was under the kayak and a Red chased it all the way to the boat and ran into my kayak with a big old thud. Crazy day.
