Ecky 6/2-6/3 Streak Broken But Redemption is sweet!!

Post by BAD BEHAVIOR »

Did anybody tell you guys that there was a tropical storm Friday and Saturday at Ecofina??? Got to the ramp @ 3:30 and met up with Cairo Trout and Sea Spot ( Good to meet you Keith!) Was supposed to fish with Ga thumper and Tightwad but they were late arriving. So we're on the water around 4:15. Its getting very cloudy and stormy looking. First cast for Bad Behavior, 21" red. Third cast for Sea Spot, 22" trout. Im thinking this is gonna get good. Five minutes later were huddled under the T-top in a gnarly rain. It slacks and we go back to fishing for about three minutes, rain again. We fish soaked until about 8:00. We put a few more trout in the box thanks to a clinic put on by Sea Spot. I didnt catch a single keeper trout, We go back to the condo and partake in an awesome meal @ Deals in Perry. If youve not eaten there, go , its goooood!! Get up @ 6:00 the next morning and watch the weather channel until we cant stand it any more. We brave the sustained 25-30 knot wind and go out. I thought the real pain was going to be the rough weather and wind. That storm was nothing compared to going all day until about 7:00 without a single keeper trout. Streak broken. Whats worse I allowed myself and my partner to enter into a wager w/ Bow'd Up and his partner. He followed me out to my first spot and we should have hung with it cause I think every single trout in Appalachee Bay was where they were. Tally at the end of the day, Bow'd up, 6 trout and one red. Bad Behavior, 1 trout, thanks to my partner fishing with me. Suks is a serious understatement. Got up Sunday morning with a new plan. Decided I would fish my gut instead of overthinking the situation. Results are below. Caught the best red,(30"), that Ive caught in a while and another red. Limited on trout and just when it started getting good, Bow'd Up's wife called and he had to go home. Thats probably the reason I dont have one of those pesky things!!!! Two casts before he pulled up, put a 21.5" trout in the boat. Went back to the condo, split up the fish so all could have table fair and brought it back to Georgia with a sense of satisfaction and a bright smile on the hopes of where this streak will go!! Awaiting two in a row, hopefully before next weekend!!! :D

Those look mighty tasty. I was talking with my Dad in Thomasville this weekend and we discussed how much money Georgia folks spend coming down to fish. Glad you got your moneys worth.

Five minutes is a figurative south Ga term for a short while. Ya'll should have come over and braved the storm with us. Probably wouldnt have caught any more fish than you already had but you'd of been wet too and we wouldnt have been the only dumb A's out there!!! Next time dont just eyeball us, come on over and introduce yourself, bud!!! :-D
