Ocklockonee Bay...Inshore-Offshore

Post by Capt Reggie »

 Hoped on the RR Enterprise with Capt. Bobby & First Mates Anthony & Bryan this morning and headed out of Mashy Sands Landing about 7:45 a.m.: :lick: Winds 5-10 SW, very few clouds; water clear - temp about >78+; air temp in the 80's+. We decided to head offshore into deeper water and try our luck!

That was a smart move as we caught some spanish mackeral trolling small spoons in around the first birdroast, then went up on the outer flats for some deep drift fishing. The macks were there along with some bluefish and loved our live baits of shrimp & small pinfish under CT's (had a few cut offs) - then the sharks showed up!

We kept (1) 3-foot blacktip for eating and cut the rest free - they put up a good scrap. No sizable trout found on the spotted grass flats, so we moved offshore to try out there. No grouper or snapper were found, just lots of small rock bass, baitfish and more sharks! :smt009

Back at the landing by noon so I could take Anthony home and go grab some grub at my favorite Wakulla Co. eatery! Back home now and chillin' in the cool A/C...too hot out there to fish through the summer heat of the day. 8)

I have my battle stretegy now for the Classic! :smt007
