In shore boat, peeing hole clogged up
For those of you who fish inshore particularly in shallow water, how often do you have your outboard peeing hole clogged up? I was fishing in some area that was less than 2'' water yesterday (see report). The water flow was strong in the beginnng of the day but was pissing irregularly when we were running in and quite obvious it was not flowing well when idleing through the KB channel. I am hopping the pee hole was just clogged with sand or grass, and nothing more serious. The impeller was replaced in March. I am running a Merc90 saltwater 2 stroke. I've heard using a heavy mono to unclogg the peehole. Any other suggestions what I should try?

I had that same problem on my 90 salt I had on my other boat. While in the yard, not on the water, pull pee hose out, remove kisser button from end, shave outside of hose so it will fit into the hole again without kisser button and run it. Stream will be much stronger and will not clog again. Worked on mine bigger hole, less to obstruct stream.

On my 25 Yamaha, it doesn't have a hose that you can take off and blow back through, it just runs through the block. SO I came up witht the idea too keep some compressed air in a can on the boat. YOu know the ones that you clean your keyboards with. It works great if I get a clog, just put the plastic tip inside the hole the blow away.

I have a single twisted pair of wires out of a cat 5 cable in my battery box.
It should also be noted that the pee stream is only a gauge. Most of the water used for cooling is expelled thru the lower unit with the exhaust. A blocked weep hole will not overheat your motor. But it sure does feel good to see it flowing.

I've had that problem and keep a short piece of stainless steel lashing wire wrapped around the back railing on the boat..when she stops peeing or the stream gets weak, I climb around to where I can rout it out with this wire...Incidently, I had a new impeller put on my pump last fall and haven't had it stop up yet this season..My motor is a 90 Two stroke Merc also..
