Shellpoint to St. Marks 8/18

Post by gwheeler »

Hey all. My wife and I went out on Saturday morning. We were going to meet some friends of hers out at Ocklocknee Shoals so I thought I'd get some fishing in first. Left out of Shellpoint and started fishing the shallow water between there and St. Marks using topwater. The water was about 84 degrees. Wound up catching 1 keeper trout, several shorts, some ladyfish and a jack. Most were caught after I drifted out of 2.5 feet of water into 8 feet. Fished for about 1 hour total. Of course we left the camera at home  . Then we met her friends at the Shoals. Swam and had fun with good people for the rest of the day. Of course now the wife wants me to install an fm/am radio in my fishing boat  Still, we had a lot of fun and caught some fish.

Yep..stayed out long enough to get sunburned even with 50 SPF sunblock on. I've warned my wife that the next time I go out its by myself. The last 3 trips have been with her and I've only gotten about 4 hours of fishing in  .

You've got to get her fishing. My wife loves it now.

She likes to fish, its just that she also likes to do a lot of socializing with her friends too. I figure once the newness of having the boat wears off she'll want to fish more. Not to mention as hot as its been out on the water its more comfortable to be IN the water. I'm taking Monday off to go out by myself for some fishing and some 'MY' time. I've got to get some more spots marked on my GPS, my grandfather and possibly my uncle want to come down from Alabama near the end of September to go fishing in the bay. If I can't produce I'll be the laughingstock of the men in my family :( .
