The wife wanted to sleep in this morning so I decided to take the boys for a morning of fishing. Dad wanted to go, so a quick stop by his place and we were off. Stopped by Jerry's at 7:30am for a few extra bags of gulps and finaaly we were on our way.

Got to the ramp a little after 8:00am and by 8:20 we were at our first spot in 5 ft. There was alot of grass spots on top of the water and immediately the bite was on fishing around them. The first 2 casts netted us 2 keeper trout. Then, it was nothing but shorts. With it getting hotter by the second, we decided to go try another spot to get some much needed air.

About 15 minutes later, we were at spot number 2 and it was dead still and nothing was interested. We decided to run to deeper water and fish along the bottom. We ran out to 15 ft. and fish were everywhere. First, the rock bass were on, then a few nice trout. Dad even managed a nice flounder. We stayed out there all alone for the rest of the afternoon and the bite never really stopped, till we ran out of gulps  We even manged to boat 2 nice sharks which I decided to keep for a change.

We headed in about 3:30pm with a 2 man limit of trout, numerous rockies, and the 1 nice flounder. We could have kept at least a 4 man limit of trout, but decided that a 2 man was more than enough.

Most of the fish were caught off the white gulp shad and molting scrimp fished right off the bottom. We had about 5-6 breakoffs and lost numerous keeper trout due to lack of effort to get the net  The most productive depths seemed to be between 12-17 ft. We went through 6 bags of gulps, so I guess it's back to the store to reload for next week.

Just finished a nice dinner of fried trout & rock bass filets, cheese grits, Sonny's baked beans and cole slaw. Got to get to the ice cold watermellon to top off a great day :lick:
