Scalloping August 2007

Post by birddog »

The wife and kids have really gotten into this scalloping gig and I guess I have too.  We've gone 3 straight Saturdays in August and it seems like the only thing that gonna slow us down is the end of the season on the 10th of September.

Thought I'd share some pics and vids from the past trips.....

We met Reel Slow and his family out on the scallop flats 2 Saturdays in a row. Had a blast. We'd get our scallops pretty quickly and head up the Wakulla River to wash off the salt and clean the bi-valves.

Scalloping Fools

I feel I need to to up this video so that you can understand what's happening a little better. We were in front of Shell Island Fish Camp watching some dolphins catch mullet when a civilian boat full of Auxillary Coast Guard dweebs pulls up shouting at me. It took me a minute to understand what the heck they were shouting about, but apparently they thought the dolphin was a person and they were telling me I needed to have a dive flag up if I had people in the water.

I'm sure they run into a lot of Morons on the water but they really should know what they're talking about before they start barking orders.

It's a Dolphin

We asked another family to join us this weekend on a scalloping safari. Some of you may recognize these folks.

Found a nice school of dolphin in the St. Marks River..the kids really enjoyed them.

Its been great spending so much time on the water with family and friends. And this past month has really justified owning a boat to the wife. I believe I've banked some serious kitchen passes just in time for some Fall fishing.

Can't wait til next time.

Looks like ya'll had good time, BD. Thanks for sharing the report and pics. I would also guess that you have earned some big time kitchen pass points.
