Custom Treble Hooks on Topwater

Post by mojokoko »

Do you guys use the treble hooks that came with topwater lures or do you buy your own specific brand and put them on?

I switch most of mine to those really sharp red hooks...
also usually go with larger size on rear. :-D
It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I usually like to go up one size if it don't mess up the balance :-? : . If it does I'll use the same size in a wide gap.

I am experitmenting with single hooks and seems to work pretty good so far. Too early to declare its a success though.

What about the Bite-a-Bait lures? Anyone use them? I hear they are the bee's knees but think that the trebles are pretty small for a good size red or trout. Do you keep the same hooks?

You're right the hooks on the bite-a-bait lures are somewhat lacking.....I have replaced them with larger hooks but it seems to kill the action.

They had a problem with that bait early on  . But after several complaints I think they got that problem fixed. It has become one of my favorite baits. Them TROUT love em.
