St. Andrews 09/04/07 - While you worked...

Post by Chalk »

I left the house around 0630 because I didn't get all my stuff ready the day before...I was kicking myself as I drove to the ramp knowing the bite was on and I was missing it....I launched the boat and had the same feeling that I did when me and Barhopr went fishing

I sped across the bay and stopped at a bank that I had not fished...well I have fished the bank just not this stretch. Five minutes there and I see two reds off the bow...I get the long pole out and play with it a little while....Go back to topwater, then I get the lure fashioned out of metal with a hook and catch a trout.

I work on down the bank and see several fish...I get the long pole out again...I cast to several fish...I see something in a sand hole...is that red...yes...I cast into the sand hole...where did he go? The sand hole is moving  Dam stingray

I see a nice red coming down the bank, but it has that look...fins are all out and the fish is moving...not interested in my fly....20 foot behind that fish is another red....I make a cast...too far....I let the fish swim under the leader....pick up....two false cast I let a 60 ft cast go down range...I strip...I see a wake behind the fly....I feel the bite...OOOOOOOOOOh Yeah fish on :smt007 ....I get the fish to the boat and my third red on the fly is 23 inches...I'm stoked, I call Birddog to tell him...He says, "Slow down and start over." I probably sounded like a China man on crack

I hang up the phone and start getting the fly rod ready....I'm down in the boats cockpit....I look up and see two reds....I get the fly in the air and set it between them....one of the fish eats the fly :o :-D ....I fight the fish for a minute and the hook pulls :-?

I ease on down the bank and see another red...make a cast and the fish tracks the fly and I snatched it away from it

I fished the bank once more and moved three more times...fishing new areas each time...ended the day with one 23" red, two dink trout...I cast to 10 or so reds with the fly rod, I got 4 bites on the fly and saw over 20 redfish today...Awesome day on the water, can't wait til next time

Chalk, I'm going to be in PC all next week on vacation sans boat, any good spots to wade fish in the bay over their. Basically looking for trout. Any good pointers would be appreciated.

Also, accoriding to what I can figure you live just north of the PC/Bay County airport, is this right?
