It was a tough day. No daylight bite at all. I located fish on a stump covered sand bar last week, and they were still there Saturday. The fish were tight on cover. And they were slow to bite. The bite was very subtile. I missed the first six bites. Several torn or chewed worm tails told me they weren't agressive. I also set the hook in about 8 stumps. The fish were holding tight enough to cover that the only way to get a bite was to pull the bait up to the cover, stop it on the cover, and shake it. I finally managed to stick 3 fish that totaled 5 pounds. That was good enough for third place. The winner had 4 fish totaling 10 pounds. Second place was 4 fish totaling 8 pounds. After a week of very cool weather, Saturday was a blue bird day. The water temperature dropped from 70 degrees last Sunday, to 61 degrees Saturday. I knew it would be a tough day. I'll take a third place under those conditions any day. That's why it's called FISHIN'.
