New motor advice needed

Post by charleyman »

Hey everyone
Just bought a new 90 yamaha. It comes equiped with the flush system that you hook the hose to and flush without running the motor. Does this really completely flush the motor or would it be safer to run the ears on the foot with hose attached. Appreciate your input

:-)

Use the built-in hose thing; that's why it's there. Those are near the top so that gravity works with you instead of against you when you flush the motor.

If it's a brand new engine be sure to check the warranty issues and owner's manual as far as care and maintenance etc.

I've got this exact setup it works great, but do not run the motor while it is hooked up. I also hook my saltaway dispenser up to it, and flush with salt away.

The hose does the job, do not crank it up.

Interesting thought here. Would it not be better to run with the earmuffs? When you run the engine and let it idle it should open the thermostats and get a complete cleaning. Otherwise you will not. Just a thought.
