10-6 Tournament day

Post by Welby »

Up at 4AM to get on the road to Mashes Sands. Get there about 6:30AM wondering what to expect with the wind a blowing. After we were informed that the weigh-in would be at Jerry's B&T, Skeeter and I discussed where we should launch from. We figured what the heck, we've already been driving a while so why not drive to Econfina ! Probably 7:30 by the time we got the boat in the water and headed out. It was really windy but the wing was coming from the shore so the water was not as rough as I thought it would be. Started fishing right away with a variety of baits. I was throwing a jerk bait while Skeeter was throwing top water while little Skeeter was throwing a popping cork. The bites were few and far between but when we landed one it was a quality fish. We moved here and there and in and out and just could never get a consistent bite to turn on. Finally by 2 o'clock figured we better head to the hill if we were to make the weigh-in. Loaded the boat and another 30 miles to Jerry's. Ended the day with 5 trout good enough for 3rd place in the tournament, a few extra keepers (trout) for the grease and two Redfish in the cooler.

Had a blast fishing with the Skeeter Crew and got my feelings hurt when I found out what was happening with my Bulldogs.

Another Great Day on the water and I can't wait to get back to the coast.
