Red Roe anyone??

Post by RiverRunner »

Well, my dad and one of our buddies went out Sunday to brave the wind in Mud Cove with the cast nets. Ended up with 37, with about 20 smoke worthy Mullet in the cooler. Some of them already have some roe in them......Yum, Pass me the Cane Syrup please...

A little small but there getting there..

Here's some of fillets we're gonna smoke

and while we're waiting on them to smoke we got plenty of back bones and the rest to fry up.

Dang that sounds good! I remember when I was a kid we could get mullet roe from the local grocery store (Scott and Marshall's). It's been a while since I've had some... :lick:

After another rough day of fishing again today, we stopped off in Panacea at Stevens for some fried mullet. Let me say, that was some of the best mullet I have eaten in a while. Small pieces, lightly fried to order with coleslaw and fries :lick:

It's hard to beat a good fried mullet......

You've got me hungry for a mess of Mullet now!

I wonder how easy they are to catch at Wakulla Beach?
