Lanark 19-20th

Post by fishfeeder »

Loaded up the Family and headed to the beach for the weekend, and snuck away for a few hours each day on the hunt for reds. Friday Afternoon I worked the docks along Lanark and picked up a few small Trout and Lost two nice reds. Saturday Morning I headed to Dog Island at daylight to fill the livewell with thread fins and finger mullet. After catching bait I worked the shoreline and a few sunken structures with no luck, so I headed to a secret spot off dog Island and pitched live bait after live bait only to get broken off each time. After an hour of feeding the creatures at this spot I decided to head back to the Dock for a little brunch and grab a little heavier tackle. Around 5:30pm I headed back to the spot with the family and decide to take a new approach. I grabbed handfuls of live Finger Mullet and Threadfins slightly crippled them with a squeeze of the hand (Which the wife just loved....not) and threw them in the water until I could see the grouper come out and hit the bait ( A Bit of a Feeding Frenzy) I then through old faithful and worked it past the point where I could see the groupys coming with in eyeshot of the surface. I ended the day with two Groupers one just made the 22" mark and ended up paying the price for all his buddies endless frustrations earlier in the day by accompanying a few hushpuppies and a cold beer.

Works for Snook, Reds, Trout, and Tarpon, never heard of it being done for grouper.
