Left out of the Lighthouse at St. Marks about 9am, with my wife and son (12), very overcast
And a little breezy. Wasn’t sure what the weather would do so decided to stay close on the east flats.
Started picking up trout most between 14 and 18 inches, then a blue fish and a Spanish,
Start back on another drift caught a few more trout and occasional ladyfish, getting one or two keepers per drift. My son even caught a keeper trout on the Sabiki bait rig, caught him one hook in the mouth another in the tail, that was fun.
Bite slowed after about 1 ½ hours, slack tide, thought about getting something to eat, never got to it. Tied into a 4-foot bonnet head shark on light tackle, what a blast.
I hear a lot of 50 and 75 fish days, we had 29 nice bites the weather really was very nice overcast but comfortable temperature, decided to go in around the oyster beds the last hour maybe tangle into a red fish.
Not 10 minutes there, my wife lands a 22-inch, 7 spotted beauty, her first keeper red.
The cool thing it was on a top water, not only that but 25 of the 30 fish we got today was on top water plugs, even the shark, neat.
We had a great family day on the water, lots better than working…

Be careful, RX. A good friend of mine started his wife fishing. After she had been fishing for a few months, he slipped out of work one afternoon to fish. When he got home his boat was gone. When his wife got home he asked if she knew where the boat was. She explained that she had decided they needed a newer, bigger boat. She traded it. Now he has to check with her to find out if he can use her boat!

What was I supposed to do today?
