Reds on the Fly - Spring Creek

Post by Reel Slow »

Had a few hours to kill at spring creek today. Finally, a quiet wind day .

Water was like glass about 11:00 when I got water and wind, what little was from south. Perfect for fishing the rise.

Ended up with 8 or 9 reds on the fly, no mongos but some respectable fish for a newbie fly fisherman  .

Saw all but one fish take the fly. Missed an equal number of strikes....AWESOME!

A few picts:

Highlight of the day was watching this 22" trout follow my fly for 6 or so feet before committing to the take...She was resting over sand by a bar :-D

Off water by 3:00....should be an awesome weekend for fishing....hmmm, may have to go

:smt006 Very well done, Fly Fisherman! TallyFly & I are headed over there Monday to try some of our recently tied patterns. I really love the area with it's many oyster bars and small creeks runnig into the river "upstream". Besides the quality redfish, there are some really large trout, nice sized flounder, and big sheepshead hanging out throughout the whole area. Hope to see you there.

Good luck Monday CR....

Your right about the sheephead, had a nice one try to eat the fly a couple times, but didn't hook up, and several follow..tough buggers to hook.
