Thanksgiving Weekend.

Post by jsuber »

We left out to fish the Ochlochnee River Bay this Friday morning with hardly any wind but pretty Chilly. Nolediver kicked off the morning with a Trout on topwater. Wind picked up then Nolediver had 8 redfish on Gulp shrimps. I picked up two Trout and four Reds. We moved around a lot and ended the day with Nolediver catching two Flounder, 1 Trout, and 20 Redfish and I had 2 Trout and 10 Redfish. Not a bad day considering how miserable the weather was.

Drove out to Dallus Creek with Nolediver in Steinhatchee. Thought the tide would have come in more when we got there, but we were wrong. Luckily, as usual an airboat came though just in time to ruin a quiet day. We finally got to the fishing area after portaging our way most of the way. I landed 21 Trout with 3 measuring 19" and making the frying pan and Nole diver had 10 and three made his frying pan too. We caught some small ones but only kept those over 18". Nolediver caught a 13" flounder and lizardfish too. Congrats on making the paper Capt Mike Crunch. We caught them wit a lot of different lures. We experimented a lot with colors. Thankfully it was really cold and windy again.

Good catchin', Suber. It does seem that sometimes when fishing out of the yak that the fish are bigger and dumber As for the airboats, they don't have to come by to ruin a quiet day, they just have to be within a couple miles of you to ruin a quiet day.
