Jerk Bait problem
I have a passion for fishing with soft jerk baits. I generally use a 5/0 hook and a Zoom/SWA/TTK fluke. My problem is I get line twist real bad, I tried some Iron silk the other day and it twisted so bad after two fishing trips, I had to respool. I tried using a split ring and a swivel, but I just didn't do it, to heavy and ugly, not self respecting trout or red would have bitten it. I switched back to Trilene big game, I can fish for about a half a day and have about 6 foot of line twist. What do you think? Any tips
Chalk, a few suggestions. First try the semi-new Trilene Big Game Supreme. Dosn't cost any more than regular big game. It's more plyable and has less memory. I don't like the dark color, my poor ole tired eyes has trouble seeing the line twitch with the dark color. The second won't help you unless you fish a spinning reel. I know you use a baitcaster most of the time. If you use a spinning reel, manually trip the bail over after you cast. That will cut down on line twist some. One thing I do with spinning and baitcasting reels, I always go up the line about a foot with floracarbon(spelling?) leader attached to the mainline with a small black barrel swival. Would rather not use it, but that's the only way I know to stop line twist.
The last thing is spray "Reel-Magic" on your line. That will help some also.
