If you have 3 outboard engines on a boat what is the center outboard used for?

From all the stuff I have read, the 3rd outboard when 3 are running only adds 5-10% of the speed and power of a boat with 3. However, if you were to lose one of the 3 engines, 2 should be able to get it on plane and run.mojokoko wrote:If you have 3 outboard engines on a boat what is the center outboard used for?
I think you meant "a boat with 2". That is not true, at all. Whatever you are reading needs to be disregarded.Tom Keels wrote:From all the stuff I have read, the 3rd outboard when 3 are running only adds 5-10% of the speed and power of a boat with 3.
