Shell Point fishing?

Post by cooter »

I'm going to be putting in at Shell Point on Saturday. I've been fishing a few times out of there with others but this will be the first time in my own boat and I'm not real familiar with the area. Just looking for suggestions on where to fish. East or West, any landmarks around there? Any info would be much appreciated.

Fish the flats around Patty's Island. We caught fish there last week. If you need the GPS number it can be found on the area charts page under reefs makers and waypoints.

Sorry this is a little late to help you for that trip, Cooter, but I just got back this week from a business trip. If I were putting in at Shell Point the first place I would go is either the first or second bend in the old Shell Point Channel. After that I would try around the edges of the little grass flat east of Smith Island.
