St. Marks, 2/16: Fishin', not catchin'
A good buddy and I that I don't get to fish with enough put in at the Lighthouse about 6:45, out to stony bayou and fished the mouth and into a few of the creeks. Saw a couple of schools, had a few chasers on top water but no takers. Around 9:30 eased out to the flats and saw numerous redfish and sheepshead hugged up next to rocks soaking up the heat. Saw several reds just sitting in about 2 foot of water, nesteld down in the grass. More schools on the fats but with the water so clear and still it was tough to make an approach. Enjoyed the day, researched some new water and got to run the boat. I am fairly new to fishing the flats and am just amazed at the beauty of the area. That alone makes any trip a treat.

Use power Pro and a long rod and you can reach out and touch those distant fish.
Re: St. Marks, 2/16: Fishin', not catchin'
Time well spent. Glad ya got out there.
What was I supposed to do today?
Re: St. Marks, 2/16: Fishin', not catchin'
It's not all about catching those fish....being on the water with a chance is fun too
.................I agree with jsuber on power pro I would go 10lb bs, but I am not keen on rods over 7ft max from a boat, although if you're happy with longer you will get the distance, although 7ft with a gold spoon will get you far enough away from your boat not to spook them, especially with the wind on your back!
