Wakulla Beach 2/20/08

Wakulla Beach

Went out with my roomate this afternoon to Wakulla beach for a little wading and fishing. Fish were very spooky and had numerous blow out of the tall grass along the shore. Hooked up onto a trout out by the bars but it came lose as I brought it to shore. Other then that little to no action to be heard of. Saw a lot of birds feasting on mullet but no reds to be had. Could not beat the water though. The water temp and the air temp were about equal which made for a comfortable day. That wind was a real cast killer though. Can not wait until the 1st..

EDIT:
Started the day fishing dead shrimp on the bottom with red and white jigheads. Switched up to a gold spoon and different colors of Rat-L-Traps with no luck. Finally threw on a shadrap again with no lucks. Trout was "caught" on dead shrimp in a channel between oyster bars.

It would be nice if I could just stop by Wakulla Beach during the week. I bet it was nice to get out there though. Sometimes that place produces and other times it just frustrates, especially poling through the mud.
