Bassmasters Classic

Post by jsuber »

What a whirlwind weekend. I left Tallahassee around 3:00 pm Friday afternoon on my way to the Bassmasters Classic in Greenville, SC. It’s the Mac Daddy of freshwater fishing events, and they had a huge area set up that was about 6 football fields in size with boats, lures, lines, kayaks, stores, and any freshwater fishing accessory you could think of. I was fortunate to be invited the talk about kayak fishing and represent Confluence and their line of fishing kayaks. I got to meet Hank Parker, and while he was signing autographs at the Hobie booth, I talked with his wife for a while. She should have been over there signing autographs too. Dean Rojas came by, he was the Bass Pro doing the ESPN show for the Bass Masters, and we got him to watch some video of some fish blow ups we had on those Spro frogs. Pro Football hall of famer Jackie Smith who played for the Cardinals and Cowboys hung around with us all day long too. I also ran into Bass Fishing Pro J Todd from Moultrie, GA and he was working with the Clarks Hill promoters. The show was by far the biggest and best fishing show I have ever been too, and if you ever get an opportunity to go to one, do it. Also its free. Great weekend. I came back after the Saturday show at 7:00 pm and arrived in Crawfordville at 02:30 am and Talltails picked me up for some fishing at 7:30. We did a little exploring and he caught one Red and I caught nothing. Only had one blowup on a topwater. Good day to explore though.
