Keaton Beach 03-01-08

Post by salty tiger »

Went to Keaton Beach for the first time to familiarize myself with the area before the tournament. Came across a spot loaded with small trout. Fished it for 30 or 40 minutes before moving on to look for bigger trout. Instead of big trout I found big reds, but they weren’t interested in what I was throwing. After a frustrating hour of chasing reds, I went back to concentrating on trout. I spent the next couple of hours paddling out and drifting back in, catching a few more small trout. Made my way back to the spot I found earlier and pretty much caught a fish every couple of cast for the next hour before calling it a day. Ended up catching 2 flounder and 25-30 trout ranging from 14” to 18”.

Maybe the bigguns will be chewing on the little ones there next week. Good to know they were biting.
