Keaton Beach 3-02

Post by caseycook »

Flounder Pounder and I met up at JBT this morning at 6 a.m and headed East to Keaton. Got to the ramp around 7:20 and while waiting to put in, watched a guy with about a 22' bay boat drop his trailer off the ramp ledge...and try to yank the trailer out with his truck - not a good idea.

We launched successfully - trailer intact - and headed out. The first area we fished looked very good - lots of bait and good bottom. FP threw a jerkbait and I threw a topwater. I had a couple minor hits on the tw and caught a bluefish. FP caught a small redfish, but overall Spot #1 wasn't happening. By about 9:30, we had 26 boats (we counted) within our general area. I guess the entire state of Ga. decided to fish today.

We moved to spot #2 and FP caught a good one immediatly. It went 23".

We moved to a new area and continued fishing. FP caught a few more trout and I caught a couple small reds.

We used the TM to move us along and 2 miles later found a really good area. We watched others catch fish and made a slight adjustment and found 'em.

We ended the day with 10 trout to 23" and 3 reds to 16". We fished extremely hard and found a new area...it's gonna be a long four days of work until Friday.

FP, I had a great time. Hope to do it again real soon.

Good day of scouting Casey..............But those fish just won't do on tournament day.
You,CairoTrout,BadBehavior,Bowd'up,Mook,Showboat,Dolphinatic,BassBoyz,ReelSlow,Baygator,TyOneOn,WAM,ReelTherapy,Skeeter22,Welby,TinCan,Chalk,Capt.Keyser,Capt.Cheesy, etc.,etc.etc. may as well fish in your boat.
You will all be in the 4 thru 35 position at the scales on tournament day.

Touchy aren't we?
I am fishing with a club member just like I have for the past 7 years.
Just for you,I am not fishing with Junior Dice.
I did invite him to the fish fry,so that he would share information with everyone about where the fish are.
P.S. Butch and I do hold the club record for Keaton Beach weight for 5 trout and BIG FISH. We plan to improve on it this year.

You are right BD. I am being too harsh on the youngun's.
I will let Casey have the Badcock and More Mystery Fish prize, "if" he can catch the largest Hard head catfish.
The TROUT category is out of his reach, along with all the others I have already named.
