Seeing as the 9th is my wedding anniversary, I was trying to fly under the radar and stay out of trouble so I could go fishing some that afternoon. Had been talking to BayGator about hitting PSJ sometime after lunch. Well, after lunch turned into late afternoon. Figured by 3:30-4:00 Baygator would be calling it a day, so I hooked up the skiff to the trusty MiniVan and headed West to fish with what was left of the day. I learned some time ago that the tide station for PSJ could be way, way off for CIS and it was one of those days. Saw two guys pulling a gheenoe across the first bar at the ramp so it was tab down and Jack it up time for 100yds or so. Given all the rain over the last week the water was surprisingly clear. Worked a ledge off of an exposed mud flat with the Fly rod and a redfish toad and with the tide sweeping out, pretty much all the bait was swept down this bank. Work down the bank against the current with the T/M. and picked up the first red close to the end of the bank. In the excitement of the moment a cluster F#$& of sorts happened, I had a lot of line on the deck when the red ate the fly and I tried to reel the line up to get him on the reel. Wasn't really paying attention and proceeded to reel huge loops and tangles on the reel. Note to self* be sure to stretch line well on Cold days*. After nearly pulling the hook on the fish trying to strip loops off the reel, I manged to bring the red to hand. In the excitement I didn't measure, weigh or get a picture of the fish

I guess he was about 19"? I know, no pictures, no fish. Damn shame on your first red on the fly

. I set up on the bank two more times and landed two more reds. Did get one picture

With the water leaving out from under me I moved out to the main bay and worked the shoreline back toward the ramp. Saw a few more reds but with the sun getting low it was hard to see them until it was too late. Back to the ramp at 6:00 and picked up a pizza and had a good anniversary dinner with the family.
