Baja Mexico

Post by Wadey »

I have put this post under off topic because it does not apply to the BB fishing, hope that's OK!...............I was wondering if any of you know anything about fishing from the shore at two locations that have been suggested to me.

1].....Los Barriles, which is on the east coat about 65 miles North of Cabo San Lucus.

2]....Isla Holbrox Yucatan.

I was thinking of possibly flying down there on my next trip to The Big Bend, any thoughts would be appreciated.

Not sure about the Cabo side but I have been to Isla Holbox. This is a very small island off the west side of the Yucatan and it offers world class fishing for tarpon and snook. You can possibly do some wade fishing from the island but I have never been too successful. The Gulf side of the island produces some 150# plus tarpon. The opposite side of the island has lots of mangrove shorelines that are loaded with baby tarpon and snook. I personally have never caught a fish from the shore but I know a guy in our group last year picked up a small snook off the beach. The guides are relatively inexpensive on the island (by Bahamas' comparison) and are really helpful.
