Man was the river busy, loading and unloading was a chore every day. The pins where plentiful and it was my first try with fish bites, although squid got bites just as fast the Fishbites did last longer. We could catch as many as 6 or 7 with one little piece. A couple of large arriator stones and a large air pump ran overnight had them pins full of energy each morning. Each morning we went to the yamaha for our AJ limit, it didnt take long to get crowded, so off we went looking for keeper groupers. The best spot we found was a patch hard bottom NW of the O tower. It really didnt look like much on the LCR but we droped and the first bite was a 28 inch gag. By far though most grouper where shorts. We also got 5 snappers and a box full of grunts and bass. the water got pretty ruff Friday afternoon, but was nice Sat. and Sun. A friend of mine that has been in a wheelchair for 20 years finally made it down and he had a ball. He is the AJ king. Also one more note, If you go after AJ,s and the action gets slow. Throw a large jig as far as you can and retrieve it fast with alot action and usually 4 or 20 will follow it to your awaiting live bait. Good luck!
