St. Joe Bay 4/18-4/21
Went down hoping for a mess of pompano and anything else that would bite. The beach was crystal clear Friday and there were plenty of pompano around. Saw probably around 100 and casted to a lot of them. They showed interest but would rarely take. Caught one. I think the water may have been too clear. However, we did manage 6 redfish on the beach that were roaming around in schools of 10-30. All of them were between 24-27 inches. Pompano and reds caught on pompano jigs. Made it back around the tip Saturday and only caught one pompano. In the remainder of our trip we found some nice schools of reds in the head of the bay that seemed to stay put over the entire weekend. They ran between 22 and 27 inches. Caught them on Exude jerkbaits and spoons. Got some pictures on an ancient disposable, I'll try to post them later.
Get your mind right

Nice trip!! It has been hit and miss on the pomps from the beach, been meaning to hit the tip and try them out from the boat, glad to hear they are out there.

Great report. Sight casting to pompano in the surf is a riot.

It's a shame the pomps wouldn't cooperate, and you had to settle for catchin them danged old reds.
Glad you had a decent couple of days.
