Post by Littoral »

What is the best deal for very very good sunglasses for fishing?
I'm really hoping somebody can steer me away from Costas, 580 glass lens, amber, Man-o-War (retail + $200). :o

You can find them cheaper on Ebay, but they are worth every penny...you actually need two pair (morning and day)

Once you use a good pair of sunglasses, you won't want anything else...your eyes will thank you.

Ocean Waves are nice as well as Smith Optics...Some guys like Solar Bats as well

I'm currently using Costa Harpoons with the amber lens for day sightfishing and recently bought a pair of Harpoons with the vermilion lens for low light conditions. So far I'm impressed. Both pair sale for around $160 at South GA Outdoors.

I wear my Costas every day. I love the Pescadors with the side shields - 580 BM lenses. For low light, I have GM 580 Fathoms. For early light/low light (like early morning duck hunts), I use my Costa Tropic Stars with the sunrise lenses.

Once you wear a good pair of sunglasses, you'll never go back again. You owe it to yourself to protect your eyes.

Hey Lit, from your kayak, because of how close you are to the water, it doesn't really matter what you wear because of your angle of sight. Now that you have that new skiff, good polarized glasses make a world of difference. You will be able to see down and out into the water for a good ways(especially where you like to fish)

I would think the glare would be much worse at Kayak level.

Figured that wouldn't happen so the next question is which ones?
No way I'll have 2 pair anytime soon so if I get just 1 should it be Pescadors, mirror green lens(580 glass), amber tint, or some other mirror/tint option?
Thanks for all the help!

Smith. I've owned several pairs and love them. I use a low light/early morning/cloud cover lense that captures a lot of available light and a high/bright sun lens that filters out a bunch of light and glare. Amber glass lens on both frames. They run between $150 and $180, Ithink.
