Got a call from BB Wednesday wanting me and him to take Bow'd up to the coast for a little fishing action Sunday. Was walking into SGO Friday shortly after lunch when my phone rang and BB was backing out on me. Apparently he and SeaSpot had already made plans the week before and Jay in all of his wisdom or lack there of had forgotten. I had to find some last minute fishing partners so I invited one of my employees, Kevin and his friend Austin. Me in Lil Bow'd met them in Tally and headed to St Marks. Put in at the lighthouse and headed east. Picked up two keepers at 15.75" each in spot 1 along with 30 or so shorts. Headed further east to another one of my spots and Kevin boats a 19.5" and Owen follows suit with his 18.5 incher. I boat 2 keepers, 18" and 16.75" and a fiesty bluefish. The shorts were thick everywhere we went but we had fun anyway. Kevin and Austin had not been on the water in 10 years or better so they were a little rusty but first mate Owen gave them a refresher. Owen catching his biggest fish to date made the trip well worth the effort. Gulp under a CT as well as bounced off the bottom on a 1/4 oz jig kept the action steady all day. Tried to chunk top water but the salad was too thick on top. Had to head to the hill around 2pm to keep my wife off my back.
