We got a late start Saturday. Left the ramp around 8:00 AM. Caught about 5 dozen good pinfish. Head offshore in good 2 to 3's (with some 4's and 5's) mixed in.
Caught 2 or 3 gags trolling stretch 25's. Frank shot 4 or 5 gags and 5 Hogs. Caught the rest of the gags on the bottom with live pins. Stayed within 20 miles. Never anchored. Headed to the hill at 3:15 with our 15.
Nice. I suggest a few more pics to rub it in some more. We dove in 30-40 yesterday just south of where ya'll were with a hazy 20' vis. Perfect diving conditions.
PFK, forgive me for derailing, but I think this will pour a little rubbing alcohol on the abrasion...pics of Sunday, great vis and large fish in shallow < 40'.
Nice freaking hog ! I agree on a very hazy 20ft viz ! Sunday looks a little calmer anyway ! DW did you see record amounts of hogs ? Thats the most i'd ever seen in our area. Loaded on every spot, although I didn't see any big as yours , i had 5 , 14 - 15 inches and let 15 in the 12-13 " range go. I also came across a similar sea turtle , had his head jammed under a ledge like I couldn't see him... Spots were very fishy ! Lots of bait and grunts..
I had heard that Sat was rough. Sunday was rough in the morning and calmed down some by noon. There were bunches of small hogs on every spot. They would swarm like bees when someone would shoot. We need to do something about all the Jewfish. It seems like every ledge has one. The biggest yesterday looked like he had about a 16" high tail.
