St. Marks 6/7/08 (Lost Pole)

Post by mjsigns »

Took my daughter out on the water Saturday. We swam at the bird rack and later picked up some pinfish. Headed east to 8-10' of water and fished with the pinfish and jigged with gulps to find the fish. Sharks were everywhere. We landed 6-8 within 20 minutes. The drag starrted to sing on the old zebco so set my Abu Garcia 5500 on the deck to play with a shark. To my dismay, my Abu Garcia 5500 (on my ugly stick) flew off the deck and disappeared into the milky green darkness of the gulf. My bait was only inches below the water surface but somewhat close to the chum bag. I think a little "rat" sized shark swam off with my pole. Made several casts with a multi hook rig to fish it out with out any luck. :( After 15-20 minutes I gave up and headed to the hill. I promised my daughter we'd go fishing again soon.

I lost my first one (a shimano) less than 500 yards from where this one was lost. I

If you happen to land my fishing pole and reel, please pm me. REWARD will be paid for it's return. Picture below.

Lesson learned again, Never leave your pole unattened if it's not in a rod holder.

Thanks !

MJ

Too bad about your pole, I had one dragged over the side like that one day but luckily the fish spit the hook and my cork floated so I just pulled the line in and got the rig. That's a nice trout in the pic.

Other than losing a rod and reel that sounds like a nice day.
I keep telling my wife she needs to be careful when laing a rod on the deck.

We need an Amber Alert for MJ's fishing rod. Great day on the water, especially when the young ones want to go out fishing!!!
