BBSC @ SGI and Panacea

Post by Talltails »

Dale Evans and I fished the classic Friday at SGI and Saturday around Panacea. We had a great weekend, but just couldn't find real big fish.
Here's some of our highlight totals for the two days.
12 trout to 19"
8 reds to 24"
9 flounder (biggest was 2.5 lbs))
2 sheepshead
25 grouper (small)
We spent a good amount of time on Friday dodging thunderstorms around SGI, and ended up running from Bob Syke's all the way over to Dog Island. I had a big cobia break me off on a piling over there. Dale caught a sheepshead that was good enough for 4th place, so at least our gas was paid for :-D
I had a great time and look forward to next year.
Here's our flounder we caught(not gigged :D ) @ SGI

Hmmmm...
Nice job. Sorry about not hooking big fish, rather, landing them.
I have Monday set up for the same territory. I have a game plan for Cobia but hadn't considered Flounder.
I'm guessing that you picked them up fishing slow & deeper mixed bottom targeting Trout & Redfish.
True or...?
BTW, my early Tarpon mornings start the middle of next week through the middle of August.
Actually listening to what other people say is worth the effort.
